30 Sep RE´FLEKT at the Microsoft booth at the IAA in Frankfurt: Mixed Reality in the Automotive Industry
Advanced technologies and digital know-how are playing an increasingly important role in the future of mobility. Artificial intelligence, cloud computing and mixed reality technology offer innovative opportunities for automobile manufacturers and suppliers.
Bosch has developed its own after-sales suite for HoloLens 2 for the automotive sector based on the REFLEKT ONE operating system. At the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, RE’FLEKT showed how REFLEKT ONE technology is used in the BOSCH training solution at the Microsoft booth.
Microsoft, strategic partner of the automotive industry, was represented at the IAA for the first time this year to demonstrate the digital potential of the industry together with partners. As the exclusive corporate partner for HoloLens 2, Bosch and RE’FLEKT presented one of the first technologies supported by the new version of the Mixed Reality glasses and focused on knowledge transfer in the automotive indus
Collaborative Training with Mixed Reality Technology 4.0
Bosch Collaborative Training 4.0 is part of the Bosch Common Augmented Reality Platform (CAP). The end-to-end solution works with mixed reality technology and is based on REFLEKT ONE. The interactive training provides holographic step-by-step instructions that help workshop trainees understand new products and technologies and enable service technicians to perform repair and maintenance work more efficiently and error-free. For example, an on-site technician can look up ready-made, easy-to-understand instructions that are accessible on various devices, including Microsoft HoloLens 2, and then projected directly onto machines and equipment.
CAP is used in training centers for new and innovative training methods and in workshops. The platform enables quick and easy integration of digital and visual content into technical documentation, training programs, repair manuals and sales platforms. The AR Operating System of the Mixed Reality partner RE´FLEKT forms the basis for the development of the CAP platform and facilitates the creation and updating of scenarios for vehicle repairs and improvements. Companies like Bosch become more agile because changes and new information can be easily integrated into the training programs and the workshop can be reached faster.
Advantages through the use of mixed-reality technologies
The interactive character of the training solutions also optimizes the quality and time required for training. In addition, it reduces costs by minimizing downtime and increasing the efficiency of business processes. The use of mixed reality technologies also improves the speed and quality of vehicle repairs. On average, companies can save more than 15 percent per step – even with conventional vehicles and less demanding repair tasks.
